FAQ

Posted by AlvinHew - October 3rd, 2009

Q: What do you do for work?
A: I'm a concept artist/asset developer for a small game studio in Toronto, Canada.

Q: What program do you use?
A: Adobe Photoshop.

Q: How long does it take to do each piece?
A: It really depends. The sketchier pieces like "The Secret Cave" and "Arctic Druid" take about a day of work, while more refined pieces like "Annika" and "The Witcher" can take up to 4-7 days of work.

Q: Can you give me tips on improving my art?
A: Sure. The best advice I can give is: "work hard and love what you do!" If you've got a passion for art, all you need to do is practice, and you'll improve. Feel free to send me a PM if you've got specific questions regarding art.

Q: Do you post art on other sites?
A: I do post on other sites. You can see more of my work on my deviantART page or on my blog.

Aaaaand just poppin' over to DA and Watchin' your ass.

Haha thanks, man!

I like how you signed up on 7/11 :)
Saw your artwork on the front page, and now I'm hooked.
My eyes are on you buddy.

Thank you very much!

You really are skilled! Must be fun working in a game studio :)

It's a great job, but it can get tough. A job's a job in the end, but it certainly is more enjoyable than most jobs.

The game studio is lucky to have such a talented artist! Keep it up! Totally loving your art! I wish i could draw like you(i actually want to draw but i'm not skilled at all(if it's not too much to ask can you give me suggestions from where someone like me should start to improove his drawing?)). Btw what's the name of the studio you are working at?

The studio is called Dark Matter Entertainment.

I think a good place to start is to look at other artists and learn from them by observation. It's also really helpful to draw from life; photos, or directly from real life.

Just start drawing stuff that interests or inspires you and go from there. Feel free to PM me if you've got any other questions. =)

Wow, some of your art is fantastic! :D I'm trying to learn how to use Photoshop for drawing, but my main problem is not being very used to the interface and tools. I might PM you later, but have you ever considered making a tutorial?

Love your art... do any advice for going into that much detail? PM me if you feel like it :J

hey man i like your art and i want to make a game with cool images like annika and the witcher what would you say if i offer you a work as the head chief in the art in my project

Wooo Toronto!
My home town... :3
Sadly I'm in Australia now... Grrr....
Nice work man, your stuff is amazing...
I'm speechless...

Hey, I was just wondering, have you taken any education yourself in the field of art? Like have you taken any art schools?

P.S. - Canada FTW
